Creating a Text Entry Interaction
The Text Entry interaction editor allows you to create content for several interaction sub-types: Simple Text Entry, Embedded Text Entry, Griddable Text Entry, and Natural Language (edit only).
Simple Text Entry and Natural Language allow you to select an option from the Text editor to show student drop-down list. You can select from the following options. Note that machine scoring is only supported on a Simple Text Entry interaction when it has a plain text editor.
- Plain text: Students cannot format or spell-check their responses.
- Plain + Spell check: Students cannot format their responses, but they can spell-check them.
- HTML Editor: Students can format text, but they cannot insert tables.
- HTML Editor + Tables: Students can format text and insert tables.
- Custom: User specifies the options available to students. You can select from the following checkbox options:
- Help
- Basicstyles: Bold, italics, and underline buttons.
- Cleanup: A button to remove formatting.
- List: Buttons to add and remove numbered and bulleted lists.
- Indent: Buttons to add and remove indents.
- Clipboard: Cut, copy, and paste buttons.
- Undo: An undo button and a redo button.
- Spellchecker
- Tables: A button to insert a table.
- Special Characters: A button to insert special characters.
- Math Equation: A button to insert mathematical expressions.
- If you select Math Equation, another checkbox appears, labeled Customize Math Equation Plugin. Mark this checkbox to customize how the math keypad appears to the student. The controls that appear are similar to the ones you use when rendering an Equation interaction.
When you've selected any text editor other than Plain text, a Paragraph Spacing drop-down list appears, allowing you to select either Normal or Double.
